Today is a very special day for me.. my birthday !
Just woke up and preparing to go for the shooting of “Maa”..
A day with ample of work for the survival..
we are facing a real difficult time as our country is facing an attack on everything we have believed in. Our pride has been devastated and the whole world is under economic recession..
Keeping all these in mind,have I decided not to celebrate my birthday this time with cakes and candles but to do something constructive !
Yes, I have decided to take a resolution on this day to pledge my eyes in the early 2009..
Planning to make an special event on the eye pledging awareness camp, naming “yes EYE can” where I would pledge my eyes to the International Eye Bank,as to setting an example which may motivate and encourage the people to do so as the statistics of POSTHUMOUS EYE DONATION SCENARIO in West Bengal are really poor in comparison to other states of our country.
India houses more than 13 million blind people out of which 3 million can get back their sight, provided so many healthy posthumous corneas are donated. Every year 25,000 young people are added to corneal blind list.
In 2007, total eye collection figure in our country 32,104 No. out of which major contribution was from Gujrat - 7031, Tamilnadu - 6635, Maharasthra - 4698, Andhra Pradesh - 3660, West Bengal - 1604.
The time has come to act upon !
Need all the support of the people from every walks of Life..
Oh ! My call time for the shooting is 9 am, I have to rush..
